Cascais to Build 133 New Public Housing Units in São Domingos de Rana and Alcabideche

Cascais will build 133 new public housing units in the parishes of São Domingos de Rana and Alcabideche, as part of its Local Housing Strategy. With an investment of 30.3 million euros, the projects include the construction of nine residential buildings and their respective infrastructures in the parishes of São Domingos de Rana and Alcabideche.

“Cascais is carrying out consistent planning alongside strict management, not only in the construction of new housing units and the acquisition of land, but also in the rehabilitation of existing homes. We are implementing a major reform in public housing in Cascais, responding to one of the most pressing needs of our residents: decent housing,” said the Deputy Mayor, Nuno Piteira Lopes, to the Lusa news agency, as quoted by RTP.

3,600 Homes by 2028

The 133 homes are part of the municipal plan that foresees the creation of 3,600 housing units by 2028, with a total estimated investment of 357 million euros. At the same time, the municipality has opened applications for the allocation of 45 affordable rental homes, aimed at young people up to the age of 35 and professionals relocated to work in the fields of healthcare, education, security, and civil protection. Applications are open until August 27.

The general housing lottery offers 21 homes for people over 18 years old who live in Cascais or who, although not residents, are relocating to the municipality to work in healthcare, education, security, or civil protection.

Meanwhile, the program exclusively aimed at young people offers 24 homes for households in which all members are up to 35 years old, or, in the case of couples, whose combined ages do not exceed 70 years.
